Labour's big council tax lie

The government has finally admitted - after denials reported on this blog in March and September last year - that its inspectors are building a database that logs desirable features a home may have. The purpose is to charge more council tax for those properties which have features such as off road parking, a nice view or a conservatory. Although these features do not mean a house consumes more council amenity or services, Labour wants the occupiers to pay a premium charge simply because it feels they have more money that can be picked from their pockets.

Lying has become synonymous with Labour. Their election manifesto pledges are not "subject to legitimate expectation" as a barrister representing Gordon Brown generously confirmed in court last month. The proof of this can also be found in Labour's Redwell West by-election leaflet, which is a tour de force of spin, naked deception and lies. Only Labour could have the bare faced gall to suggest a Tory-run Borough Council has proposed to cut 56 police posts from Northamptonshire Police.

Only Labour could claim it believes in proper control over urban development. That would be the same Labour party whose government slashed funding to Wellingborough for refusing to rubber stamp poorly considered development in the town that would have affected local residents - development that was actually supported by Labour. And yet they claim in their leaflet the Tories are for over-development!

The reality of Labour is that people are not allowed to decide how their money is spent. Labour is still rooted in its socialist redistribution mindset. The government will take from you what you have earned and decide what it will be spent on. If you refuse to be dependent on the state, Labour will find more ways to take more money from you in tax so you have no choice about it. But Labour does not even redistribute the money fairly.

Just consider the abolition of the 10% starting rate of income tax. The poorest will be hit hardest. Labour is about power for power's sake. Labour's sole aim is to destroy any form of independence and take from people anything they have worked hard for. And when they have taken your money they waste it so there is nothing to show for it. But they do not mind, because they believe there is plenty more in your pocket they can take from you. It is time to finish off socialism once and for all.
